Tech N9ne abuses women. Lil Wayne is a drug addict that pretends to be a blood. You can have a seizure going to Time Square too. Constantly flashing lights do that.

Tech N9ne is a vile human being, but Wayne isn't? Ok Malik, I thought you were smarter than that, Also Malik, you can't get a seizure from reading a book, unless you have epilepsy. I can see video games are affecting some of the young minds on this website ;),reminding me why it is a shit idea to post on the forums anymore.

Just because you are fun does not mean you are a good rapper. Yeah its ok to be fun, but don't start calling yourself the best alive while you're not.

I wouldn't mind all the dance and club songs and anything else that people are claiming is killing hip-hop if they weren't the only things that got recognition in the media nowadays. Those songs should exist, it's just I'm tired of arguing that Lupe is better than soulja boy even though he isn't "hot" right now. That's how people recognize skill. They base it on sells ""if lupe is better than soulja boy then how come soulja boy has more sells?" This seriously needs to stop.

Tech N9ne is actually a vile human being who needs a bullet in his head, but okay. Common isn't fun though. The rest of your examples are A+ though. Playing video games all do does nothing to your brain. It'll strain you eyes if you look at it for too long, but the same thing happens if you read books all day or if you stare at any one thing all day.

You're point is excess is bad, except excess doesn't correlate with Cam'ron or Wayne. They're both fun in a little ways. Wayne because he can absurd. Cam because he has an everyman quality to him when he isn't pretending to be a gangster. And they're both fun in edging close to self parody ways. I don't think Wayne is desparate for fan approval considering he sold 3 million on his last album. Cam has enough internet soldiers to revival even Joe Buddens, so I doubt he's hurting for more love.

But so is Tech N9ne, but he's actually good. Hell, Ol Dirty Bastard was fun as hell, but the man had skill (he's not for squares). Common was fun, Tribe Called Quest is fun, Jurassic 5 is fun, Aceyalone is fun, MF DOOM is fun, etc etc etc. You know what else is fun? Playing video games, but staring at a television too long is bound to fuck a brain up, ya dig? You know what is fun? Eating Ice Crea on a hot summer day, but that dairy is bound to fuck a stomach up, ya dig? I see a pattern developing. We shouldn't relegate fun to rappers that need desperate fan approval. It's an excuse, not a compliment. Lil Wayne and Cam are fun, if you are one of those everyday wannabe goons with a mental capacity of a cockroach, you know those little insects that can live without their heads? Sort of like Cam'ron and Lil Wayne lol.

Hip Hop is allowed to be fun. Lil Wayne and Cam'ron are fun.

Children of the Corn Cam was still mediocre. Confessions of Fire Cam was still mediocre. I don't care if he was riding Big L's coattails, fact is Cam'ron was a nobody during an era where hip-hop was competitive. He was a somebody in an era where trends dominated and hip-hop wasn't consistent and not competitive.

And as for Lil Wayne, he may be with everyone "as far as rhyming goes" but rhyming words isn't t he hard part of hip-hop anymore...

    Dr. Seuss>>>>Lil Wayne ;)

I'd be hard pressed to argue that Lil Wayne doesn't rhyme effectively considering he's pretty much the same as the majority of rappers in that regard. He doesn't say anything particularly interesting most of the time nor is his diction anything to brag about. But despite the hate, he's with everyone else as far rhyming goes.

It is definitely quantifiable how well someone can rhyme, but it isn't the the beginning and end of the discussion about how skilled someone is. I reject the notion that all art is completely subjective. Art may be wholly subjective in the sense that people "like what they like" but there is still a semblence of a rubric/structure that makes something grant. Obviously there are differences between the different arts but things like form and originality are definetly all encompassing.

In art, technical ability only means so much. A painter can know how to draw a realistic tree with crazy shading n stuff, but may not know how to put a picture together that invokes a legitimate reaction.

And since art is completely subjective, ones skill (in art) is only a reflection of someones opinion of his craft.

e.g. someone may like Lil Wayne and his stupid lyrics and think he's a skilled rapper, because to them he is. I think a lot of what comes out of his mouth is garbage. So I don't think he's "used his ability/knowledge of rhyming EFFECTIVELY".

The fact he's learned how to rhyme words or use multies doesn't mean his skill has increased, it just means he has more knowledge on how to construct a rap. But his skill will still be subjective to the listeners opinion. Not a bar graph...

Rapping Skill is definitely a reality/definable. Lupe is OBJECTIVELY a better rapper than Souljaboy. It's not an opinion.
