You have been trolled. He didn't even respond to this thread. There is just no way you can compare Lupe with Wayne. This thread is big fail

I won't disagree about Common's flow. But I do disagree about him being overrated. Just because dude simply spits what he's feeling and what he's thinking doesn't make him untalented. Lupe's flow is only impressive on a handful of tracks in his entire discography. Most the time it's no better then Common's. But I don't necessarily think either of their deliveries are anything special so I won't go much into that.

Also, Be & One Day It'll All Make Sense are just about as good, if not as good as Resurrection and Like Water For Chocolate. And whether you consider them "classic" (A term I never use anyway...) or not they are still better then Lupe's albums lol.

    Aesop Rock... Lulz.

Who said anything about Jay selling more album anyways? All I'm saying is Blueprint is a better display of musicianship then Enemy of the State.

btw, Slim Shady LP kills any project by Lupe. I'm not as big a fan of Eminem Show or MMLP as others, but I still think they are respectable projects.

And RZA... Pfft. The only thing I can REALLY find to praise this guy for personally, is his impact. His production on the other hand... not as into as others who seem to think it's absolutely mind blowing. people think 36 Chambers is the best produced album ever...

lol @ Hip-Hop vs Pop. They are both still Hip-Hop bruh, I just think Kanye produces better music. Period. And 9th Wonder on Skyzoo's album was not very impressive. Like 2 out of the 5 songs he produced on that album are anything better then decent. And as much as I dislike 808's as an album and Kanye production around that period, 5 of Kanye's best produced tracks from around then are better then the 5 9th produced tracks on Skyzoo's album. And this period is on the lower spectrum of Kanye's produced tracks, whereas 9th's beats on Skyzoo's album are pretty much in line with his usual production.

Honestly, at any given point over the years since Kanye & 9th started, I'd say Kanye was producing more, higher quality beats then 9th.

No one has a rapping style like Lu? Dude hails from the temple of Jay as far as sound goes. There's no reason to try to mimmick his style regardless. Let's not start to pretend that Lu is Andre 3000 or Cee-lo now.

    LIL WAYNE = IDIOT SAVANT

"a mentally defective person with an exceptional skill or talent in a special field, as a highly developed ability to play music or to solve complex mathematical problems mentally at great speed. "

Common is one of the most overrated emcees I can think of that "conscious heads" listen to. His only album where he displays something outside of a normal A,B,C flow is Resurrection. Lupe can spit centuries around him. No one has a rapping style like Lupe. No one can come close to trying to mimmick his style. He can twist words better than every emcee with probably the lone exception being Aesop Rock, but Lupe's diverse ability to change speeds and still stick metaphors and double entendres in the middle (Go Go Gadget Flow comes to mind). Common has 2 classic albums which are Like Water for Chocolate and Resurrection, and mostly because of the production of No ID and Dilla.

As for 9th vs Kanye, it all depends on whether you like pop music or hip-hop music. Hate me for that statement, but I stand by it. 9th has produced more classic albums in full than Kanye and 9th has also opened up more doors for other hip-hop producers. 9th did more with a PC than Kanye with a full Roc-a-Fella studio. Ever since 9th got his big break, his production has become even more polished. The tracks he produced for Skyzoo's album were amazing. The album he did with Murs was great. 808's was unadulterated cow dung and Kanye should have his hip-hop producer's liscense revoked for that. He is not prince and that music no matter what genre you place it in was bad. Jumbling a bunch of samples together with synthesizers and different sound frequencies does not mean the music is good, it just means you liked it. Kanye's diversity is his gift and curse.

Not a fan of the RZA? Makes sense with some of the ish you post lol.

Lupe still shitted on Jay on "That Funny Feeling". I don't care if Jay sold a million more albums or hypnotized a million more people.

Eminems first two albums were ok. The Eminem Show was repetitive and it was an epic fail on the production. Eminem makes me want to listen to Asher Roth. At least he is somewhat not repetitive.

Plus, as much as I like Lupe, he doesn't get any points for the fact most of his best stuff is just verses or freestyles over unoriginal production. His mix tapes are the best part of his catalog of music, and as cool as it is hearing him rap, dude needs to step up and put out a good ALBUM. Hearing guys go in over other peoples songs is cool ONCE N A WHILE, but get your own project together dude.

I disagree about 9th being a better soul sampler. No actually, maybe not, but I disagree that 9th is a better producer then Kanye. 9th doesn't do nearly as much with the production as Kanye does. Which, most the time it still sounds good, but often it's not as polished compared to Kanye production, and not as consistent. I can almost fall asleep on much of 9th's production. Plus Kanye has MUCH more variety.

You listen from College Dropout, to Late Registration, to 808's and it's all a completely different sound. But it's all still great (for the most part).

As far as RZA, I'm not a fan of him much at all. So I won't comment there cause it'd be pretty biased. J Dilla though I'll give you.

Common > Lupe. Doesn't matter how you slice it. Be, Like Water For Chocolate, One Day It'll All Make Sense, and Resurrection are all respectively better then pretty much anything Lupe has done with the exception of a handful of tracks here and there. Electric Circus and Universal Mind Control being his only below decent albums. The rest ranging from good to excellent, and he's got lots of em. His discography is one of very few I consider almost on par with someone like Nas who also has quite the impressive discography with many good albums.

Blueprint III, without seeming like I'm praising it too much because I really didn't enjoy it all that much as it is, but it's still better then Enemy of the State. and yeh, Enemy of the State is just a mixtape, but it's also the only official thing Lupe's released in recent years, thus it's the only thing outside of leaked crap Lasers tracks which can be used in the "right now" argument.

As for Eminem, his last 3 albums have been crap. But his first 3 albums crap on most of Lupe's discography. Though I can understand arguments against Em, dude has lost the consistency he had in his discography since releasing 2 more stinkers. And yeh he is like a broken record half the time.

There's no elitism. There is science though, and there is also politics. Rappers like Gucci and even The Roots are manufactured to keep people listening WITHIN boundaries. But what makes rappers like Gucci and Souljah Boy worse is their subversive use of mudras, mandalas, and mantras. These terms are necessary for the individual to become acquainted with, because we are all victims of their use. After studying subliminal advertising and hypnosis (as well as being hypnotized and witnissing a mass hypnosis demo) there is clear evidence that concludes the subversive use of these ancient techniques for the procurement of the completion of some sort of agenda. There is no other reason why grown ass men are making music to appeal to ten to twelve year olds with blended references to adult themes. It is a blatant attack on the subconscious and targets the lower root and sacral chakras. The shininess, the bling, the words, the repetitive simple verses are being repeated by the wrong people, and not just with vernacular, we are seeing it in the pregnant bellies of twelve year olds.

Now I am done "clowning" in this thread, but it was cool while it lasted. HTP and light fam.

Also haha thanks Awesomexp. Yall know I was just clowning in this thread (this argument has been going for like half a decade now), but try to take the criticism to heart. Lupe might be my favorite rapper, but that doesn't mean he is the greatest rapper. He's not the best, and there will always be people both above and below him.

Oh and if you ever dismiss a rapper purely on the subject they talk about, you might as well just kill yourself right now. From Gucci to The Roots, it's all Hip Hop.

    No elitism.
