    I heard it now, I was holding off listening to it out of respect but when I saw Kanye blogged it I thought OK. I just gotta say I love it too much, Lu's truly excelling and staying out of that box.

Which means he's following an unprecedented path, which is exciting 'cause I've never seen anyone that righteous get this far before. Actual real, uncompromised substance. It's rare at this level. Is Cudi's album good, I might check it then. I just saw him talking big about himself in an interview and then saw him freestyling on Westwood acting like he killed it but I didn't think so at all. But I ain't a hater, I don't have him in an emcee category but maybe he made a nice album, could be different.

Sounding like Kid Cudi is only a good thing. There's nothing wrong with creative influence from other artist's like Ruffstylz said. To me, Lupe is following the Jay Z path to superstardom, excpet the dumbing down bit. Jay Z got influences from artists like Snoop Dogg, Nas and Biggy Smalls during his time and his flow on Reasonable Doubt is better than what the whole East Coast and West Coast could put together during that time (except B.I.G, of course). I am a huge fan of Kid Cudi's music. He is defining a genre, bringing the whole 60's psychedelic music into hip-hop and making an album that is a metaphor to the journey one goes through life (and is literally a barrage of thoughts and emotions of a high kid in one night- the album ends with him waking up from all the dreams and nightmares). Day N Nite is just a nightmare amidst the other equally impressive songs. It's good that Lupe is picking up inspiration from this guy and that he's working with him. I'd like to see these two artists also work with Wale and Asher Roth, and maybe Drake.

Actually, after a second listen, I changed my mind. That song is pretty sick. So far Lasers is 3 for 3 with great songs.

I loved Day n Nite but I don't follow Kid Cudi. I think he's just following his creative urge, it doesn't matter if he's influenced by what's going on now - that's natural. You should be proud of it if you made a song like What U Want.

I don't think he's trying to sound like Kid Cudi, I just think he's changing it up. Kinda like what he did with Hello Goodbye. It's just a different flow. I'm definately diggin this song though.

It sounds to me that he's trying to be too much like Kid Cudi. I don't really like that. The beat was good though. I'm just hoping that "What U Want" is the only song on Lasers that he sung.
