I dont know much about the music industry, but not the way music is going these days record companies are less and less important in getting your music out. unless you sign to roc nation or someone, no one will care if you're signed to a label. you can get exposure if you get some attention on the internet, and just ride the wave, big name collabs help too. But funding yourself with no label will be the hard part

well I think if I ever get the opportunity I want to sign a record deal tht way more ppl can hear my music...I mean I dont need 100's of millions of $'s...I just want to be able to support myself off my music & maybe hopefully influence ppl with my music/have enough moneyto give back...

Depends on the deal and depends on what your goal in the music industry is. If you're just content with people listening to your music regardless, it's better to stay on your own because that way you can ensure you get all the money for your own work, outside of producers of course. If you want to blow up, better find a way to market yourself first. And you're probably going to get screwed over in a 360 deal.
