On the Recovery album it seemed like Eminem made garbage choruses to prove a point....but I can't think of any song where Lu wasted any time in a song.

EM always makes a few throwaway tracks that'll be radio-safe too.

Lu for style.

Winner=Lupe

but Drake would wreck them both.

Finally someone who actually feels the same way I do about Lupe and Em
Soun's picture

@ SUPERNODDYBODII the whole "incomparable to that of his 'peers'." thing yeah lol Lupe even said/addressed that/the whole situation 2gether in "Dum It Down"...lol puns are funny!
supernoddybodii's picture

Drake's content is ALWAYS about one, multiple or all of the following: girls (either bashing someone who hurt him, or something else), weed/intoxication, money, and gloating about how he's better than everyone else etc... name one song of his that isnt about that.. just because the beat is catchy and it gets more play, does NOT mean that he is a good rapper. #justsaying
supernoddybodii's picture

lyrically: lupe. like i previously said, lupe spits food for thought, and not BS. flow: LUPE! his ability to have dynamics.. he can go from an ABAB rhyme pattern to a AAAB ABAB.. and make it sound flawless. Style: indisputably lupe. EM is LEGIT tho.. no lies.. he's deep and has GREAT songs, however, his lyrics are straight forward, and idk if its just me, but i like an enigmatic flow, one that makes me sit there and think for hours. Music that makes u think, NEVER gets old, because if you find something new with every listen, the song becomes perpetually entertaining. KUDOS LUPE!
supernoddybodii's picture

wtf. drake is WHACK, he's not even in the running... the caliber of lupe's lyrics is unforseen, and incomparable to that of his "peers". he is in a league of his own.

say what you want about Recovery, but let's not forget Relapse, releades only last year. probably the best rhyming evey displayed on an album

@ Reflect I agree with you on that it doesn't matter what you write on, but if you can't write and you NEED technology (ex: Blackberry) it just makes him look like a phony *no pun intended*. I am done talking about the phone know. And in that lyric when he drops everyone names' is because he is giving them props. He then goes on to say he is not going drop his name because he is a Humble guy. Hence his style of music. The last thing is I don't understand why you have such a large hatred for Wayne. You can ask anyone and they will tell you they have heard of him, know his name, song, or what style he represents. He is an icon the the rap/hip-hop industry and you can't take that away from him. Honestly, I just feel like your a hater. I never said I was a big fan of his music, it is good and no not all of his music is, but the music that is, I will give him that, but to say he is the best out their.....NO! So I think you need to get over some personal issues and reevaluate YOUR hip-hop knowledge.

i thought it was pretty bad, 2 mainstream for me
Trench's picture

Recovery was dope. The beats were good...Dre is overrated. I love playing that album for some hard MF and watchin' his face change when the weak ass hook is over and Em goes in and operates
lupeforlife's picture

HE WORKED WITH LIL WAYNE. the only song on there i can listen to is 25 to life and about 2 3 more that i cant remember their names . on fire is just too commen these days every one is saying their hot, sick, "im so hot my fire truck is on fire"???? recovery is his sellout album. the beats sucked, he needs to stick with dre
RefleCT's picture

Recovery did not suck in any way haha. Do you listen to the whole album? Because there are some instant classics on it like "25 to Life", "You're never over", "Seduction", "Going through Changes", "No love", and "On Fire." Its a great album.... no one can match his flow.... and "love the way you lie" and "not afraid" are the only mainstream songs, which are still good lyrically
lupeforlife's picture

lu is way more lyrical then em, and recovery sucks, his sellout album
Chris S's picture

in all honesty, Eminem is the greatest of all time. there's not a single category any rapper can do better than eminem. whether it's flow, delivery, lyrics, substance, abitily to make hits...you name it. he's the best
no.body's picture

Yeah, I can kinda get Drake`s appeal with his image and the crossover appeal and content and relatability of his tracks to the average listener, but if we`re talking about skills as a RAPPER, you can`t say dude`s better than Lu OR Em... you just can`t. Or you can, but then you`d be wrong. lol
iKnowMUSIC's picture

I think if you don't think Lupe is better than Drake or one of the top five MCs (of all time for me) out you should stfu consider being a member of a Drake or Eminem site psh shit.

@LUPEFORLIFE what do you mean? wouldnt it be like the same concept?

I prefer Em.

I thought he said shot(wordplay?) to drizzy,.......
RefleCT's picture

@ scooby_doo ok it doesnt matter what you write on... does it matter if you write on paper or a phone?... not really. And false... Lupe does not give props to Lil Wayne. As a matter of fact he tried to diss Lil Wayne on his own track "Fireman" i recall. "Shouts to Drizzy, Shout to Wayne, Yeezy, Jeezy, Ricky, Fifty, Raekwon, Loso, Gucci Mane. Im not going to drop my name." So as you can see he was not giving PROPS to Lil Wayne but calling him out for being a mainstream dumbass... if you cant understand that then thats a whole different problem. And lastly... Lil Wayne is good.... hmmm how should i approach this? Well you say his underground music is good. Ok, did you even listen to the Mixtape "No Ceilings"? That is the most mainstream/ignorant/hip-hop killing mixtape to date. You saying he is good practically screams you dont know hip-hop... just hip-pop. So if you dont believe that Lil Wayne is whack, then why dont you just ask the majority of other Lupe fans on this website and see what they tell you. I believe your the Newbie now. :)
treja23's picture

we should all just applaud every rapper that has been mentioned in this forum: Drake, Wayne, Eminem, and most importantly LUPE!! lol fact of the matter is everyone has their own specific taste in music. Some like Drake, some don't. Some like Em some don't. Fact of the matter is everyone one of these guys are good in their own right. Drake's music is catchy and when I hear it I'm just like "that sounds hot." Wayne makes stuff that makes me laugh idk if that's good or bad. but his punchlines do be ill can't lie. em murders anything he does and back in the day he was ill-er! and lupe just makes plain ole good music. he makes music that makes you think and is pretty much different from the other 3 guys mentioned. which is why he stands out as my favorite, but everybody is good
lupeforlife's picture

@scooby_doo. he had a ghost writer so...
Scooby_Doo's picture

@Reflect My 1st point is the Black Berry. That is the only way he can write his songs. If you don't believe me you can go ask his music producer because even he says Drake can't write without it. Any REAL artist can spit out lyrics no matter what it takes. My 2nd point, Lil' Wayne isn't any good? What the hell have you been smoking or where have you been living for the past lets say 15 years? Yea maybe his newer stuff has evolved into more main stream music, but his older and underground stuff is ridiculous! Even Lupe gives props to him in his underground song Fireman of the DJ Leak Enemy of the State. SO, to say I don't know my hip hop, you are truly wrong sir. Now I am not saying I am an expert but from your low intellectual dis, I can clearly see that you are on the "Drake D-Stain" Bandwagon. P.S. Learn how to spell, or better yet, get an education! Next time you call someone out check your facts on something other than Wikipedia Newbie!

i was with you until you said drake was better

NO.BODY get my point. That is really what I'm talking about. Em and Lupe has its different style of rapping. Em is good as what he does and so as Lupe. What's Lupe advantage is his music, the last album he released was full of cool stuff.
no.body's picture

On a technical level, Em is king. He's a rapper's rapper in terms of rhyme structure, multis etc. However, in terms of concepts, wordplay, song writing I think Lupe is superior. Em grew up as a battle rapper, in his first two albums he had a bunch of storytelling tracks and funny/clever concepts (Guilty Conscience, etc.) but as of late most of his songs are just rhyming to rhyme. Actually, I liked Relapse, but the majority of Recovery was ehh...

@SCOOBY_DOO first of all what does it matter whart you write on? drake writing on a blackberry is irrelevant to whethers hes a good rapper or not... anyways you just said "this is not a stab at Lil' Wayne because he is a phenomenal artist"...... you lost respect right there. Lil Wayne is AWFUL and has the same flow/ same content/ and relies on punchilines in every song. You obviously dont know hip hop..
jnwright's picture

Eminem's music and Lupe's music are way too different style. Eminem likes to blahh some words that sometimes I don't even understand my self but even though thats the case Eminem is still good as what he does. On the other hand, Lupe's music are downers. Downers in the sense that it make you relax while riding the beat.
Scooby_Doo's picture

Hahaha Drake? really? He is just a wannabe *Lil' Wayne*! He can't even write his own music without a blackberry! His music doesn't go any deeper that getting wasted or being famous. Plus you can't do better than Wayne so to try and steal his style is WEAK!!! Plus only a hater would post something like that when clearly it is a Lupe vs. Eminem forum. Now that I'm done PWNING you, I will answer the question. (*This is not a stab at Lil' Wayne because he is a phenomenal artist) Lu actually has a meaning for every word, lyric, and song he works on! He is a true artist that puts everything out there for his fans. He is truly an inspiring artist that doesn't get enough credit that he really deserves. Lupe gets on more of a emotional level and doesn't try to make main stream style music (hence like Drake). Eminem is another style to compare with. He is more of the aggressive, old school hip hop which calls people out and makes fun of others. He is probably one of the best in the business but you can't really compare the two because of the difference in their styles. Eminem has more of a main stream style of music that most people have heard, but his underground tracks are much better. But in the end I like Lu's style better and what he stands for in the real world. This is the reason why he is personally #1 in my book. All I know what to end with is: Love Always Shine Remember to Smile. -LF
