And could we not get into the discussion about Lupe needing to be on Jay Dee beats? Because he shouldn't.

I've been going through Blue Sky Black Death's catalog for awhile after I went back I listened to their Jean Grae/Velvet Underground mix (The Evil Jeanius). Always nice. Danger Mouse needs to go back to hip hop or Gnarls Barkley because everything he's done has either been potential squandered or fucking up good bands. Can't forget 9th Wonder either. Better than I gave him credit for during his Little Brother days.

Would love Lupe to work with Exile, dope beats that rarely (never) overshadow lyrics, like with Blu and Fashawn.. Essentially I agree with all producers mentioned by you Ian. Oh and the JMT producer is Stoupe the Enemy of Mankind, or just Stoupe. And yeah, agree about the lack of good threads on this forum. In case you aint on them already, I'd recommend the kanYeLive.com forums. Even though I dont post (I dont even have an account, lol), there are some quite interesting dicussions and it's a good place for hip-hop related news/releases..

when i heard forever young i was dissapointed. that was on the same level as prolyfics pressure cooker "sample". pile of crap - I hope jay didnt pay him for that most of my fav producers are already mentioned so I have nothing else to add

Mike, I just wasn't really paying attention to 9th when he was in Little Brother because Phonte annoyed the hell out of me. I can't say I'm a big Kanye supporter now Ian, sometimes he over produces his beats or when he samples, he does absolutely nothing with it except loop it.

Obviously Dj Premier who is my favorite producer. Gangstarr, Jay Z, Nas, Royce Da 59, NYGz, Reks, Jeru The Damaja, AZ I mean I could go on forever. Kanye, who again has worked with a ton of people. Havoc from Mobb Deep. Cause Hell on Earth & The Infamous both have some reeaaallly good production. Domino from Hieroglyphics, Organized Noize, Dan The Automator, Symbolyc One from Strange Fruit Project and also did an album with Braille. uhhh, dude from Jedi Mind Tricks, can't remember his name right now. And of course, who I consider to be probably the most underrated producer ever. Hi-Tek. Dude is sick from his work with Talib as Reflection Eternal, to Mos Def & Blackstar, and he has like 3 albums of his own. He's got such a strong discography, even I'd been under appreciating him for a long time.

Blue Sky Black Death are definitely one of my favorites at this moment. Bonobo & Emancipator are the two guys I've been into the most though lately, cause I been into Instrumental stuff. Oh, and Blockhead, can't forget him. All these guys and Oddisee have been on non-stop for me. For some of them both Instrumental, and their regular work with rappers. Outside of them the ones I'm digging the most at this point are probably: Exile for his albums Radio & Dirty Science, as well as his production on Blame One, Blu, & Fashawn albums, as well as his work with Emanon. Dude is definitely one of my favorite producers at this point and one of the best of this decade. Black Milk for Tronic and his production with Elzhi, Buff 1, Finale, and I know I'm forgetting someone else he works with as well but it'll come to me later. Also I hear he's got a lot happenin this year. Sabzi. Definitely. I really wasn't even aware of who he was til the last couple years. But he's one half of Common Market, as well as one half of Blue Scholars. And both are sick groups, and his production for both is kick ass. Kno, cause Cunninlynguists are dope as hell. M-1 from Dead Prez, and I heard some of his production for Singapore Kane which is really really dope. Anyone know who else he's worked with cause all I really know him from is Dead Prez and a couple Singapore Kane joints. Alchemist & Evidence. Both really dope, both have some nice tapes out there. Alchmists Intstrumental tape "Rappers Best Friend" and his album "Chemical Warfare" come to mind. And Evidence "The Layover" is reaaaally nice. Ant is nice, one half of Atmosphere. Apollo Brown has been making some noise the last few years. Detroit producer who's worked with Finale and some other guys. Has 2 instrumental tapes "Skilled Trade" and "Make Do" which if you like Instrumentals you should DEFINITELY check him out. I think he's got an album out to called "The Reset" but I haven't given it a listen yet. _Continued_

I think Lupe and 9th Wonder could make some magic together, the same way 9th and Skyzoo did. Was there something in particular about 9th's production in his Little Brother days that didn't strike you? I thought The Minstrel Show was one of 9th's best performances behind the boards.
