aight so we all now that lupe is known for his superlyricalness, which include extended metaphors and double, triple, sometimes even quadruple entendres. so, i figured y not make a thread dedicated to that. post some lyrics that u just figured out recently, or took u a while to understand.

i recently caught the "hijacked the role and went and shot the pilot" line from Hi-Definition.

and even tho it wasnt recently, it took me a while for me to catch the "a match made in heaven set the fires in hell" line from The Coolest.

wat lines went over ur head..??

the gangis khan line is a reference to kanye west .....like khan-ye. thats why he says with out the (ye) and a line that got me was in failure in the very end..... "see what im saying(saiyen) man and i push keys(ki's) wonderfully" Its a dragonball Z reference like when the characters turn super saiyen and the ki part is the like energy they used to produce powers like the ka-me-ka-me-ha, its like the japanese version of chi.

@Aradi the Hi-Definition line is a double entendre. 1 side bein a terrorist attack, another bein filmin a television show. pilot can mean an aviator or the first episode of a show. "shot the pilot" = killed the pilot or filmed the first episode after he "hijacked the role" aka stole the part in the show

Yeah, B Dub, I love that Arthur/DW reference as well. DatKid, what does that Hi-Definition line mean anyway? It took me a while to get "match made in heaven..." as well. This easy one in Enemy of the State took me a while "... most of my friends in gangs, my nickname is Gengis... Khan, but without the Ye, but his last name's my side..." I still think there's something I'm missing there.

in Say Somethin 'Brave and Fly you Backboneless and Wingless' as in not brave or fly, obviously, then 'buncha chickens on the strip im comin for they fingas' linking it all back to chicken. also in Emperors Soundtrack i thought it was funny the short line he says 'i author(arthur), like DW's brother like a hustla" from the show arthur, get it, DW was his sister. just thought it was funny.

"its hirst verses and murakami rhyming, all my raps is superflat.." "Now as far as the hearing, I've found it It was as far as the distance from an earring to the ground is But the doorknockers on the ear of a stewardess in a Lear She fine and she flyin, I feel I'm flying by'em 'cause my mind's on cloud nine and in her mind at the same time" i was a little late on that dumb it down one but.. i like figuring stuff out on my own.. no google
