    Yes i agree that some music is literally made for the clubs to go drop it like its hot to but at the same time its leaving the impression that that's all there is, getting crunk, turn yuh swagg on, sway and surf, lean rock and fall down....it pains me to think that the generation gonna get old and then be saying crank that

I'm a dj i dont play in parties like that anymore but i got mixshows and mixtapes and I think its the djs role to entertain and educate and well its time for the djs on the air to get back that mindset, take back that power instead of going along with the station's director playlist but I know alot of them gonna say hey its a job and they got bills to pay so they gotta do what they gotta do.

yeh ok if that's the case how come we like artist like him and the other lyrical kats, i think if there was atleast a balance of the music on the airwaves to give listeners a choice it would be different, i'm sure it got enuff of us " cypher / backpackin" guntas to give those "laffy taffy" followers a run when it came to the votes for what's requested on the radio and videos and all that, we got to take back just as well. Down here in Trinidad me and my crew do a kind of guerrilla tactic where we call different stations during those prime radio hrs and ask for music real cuss them out for not having it and hang up cause the music directors are listening and they want to know why that song being requested not here and guess what they go get it and put on the air for atleast a week and once other people jump in on requesting it it gets more spins. So Phase5 u got lyrics to stimulate the mind is great but it aint gonna get out till it gets played and Jcarter how do people know he's not the sound they dont want to hear if they aint hearing him and/or artists like him minus the fact that Lupe is closer to mainstream listenership than some other artists on the rise. wat yall say....

Its because music isnt put out for the content anymore. Its put out for the sound. If lyrics mattered still music would be the same as it was in the 80s and early 90s. Lupe will never be played heavy on the air cuz hes not the sound that people want to hear.

The thing is...there aren't many artists LIKE lupe...to have people wanna be like him..would just mean we'd have a bunch of Lupe clones walking around and there'd be no diversity...i'm tired of the whole idiotic song era just as much as the next guy, but until we as artists step up and put something in our lyrics that stimulate the mind..even if just a little..nothing will change..real hip hop will take the front when we stop standing behind the rest and step to the front...Phase 5
