    I won't lie. I only spin Yogaflame, National Anthem, and Say Something.

    I don't really know the purpose of this mixtape. Maybe to make us thirsty. Lupe has made it clear that it was short on purpose and that there is a reason its a MIXTAPE not an album. But.. I was talking to a friend, he sha'll remain unnamed, RAPFIEND, and he brought up some really good points.. it led me to this.. 

    This mixtape shows talent, has complex lines, and showcases Lu well. But it has no Twilight Zone. There is no Penz and Needlez, Switch, Handcuffs, Lupe the Killa, Mean & Vicious, or Glory. Do you get me?

I don't really know the purpose of this mixtape. Maybe to make us thirsty. Lupe has made it clear that it was short on purpose and that there is a reason its a MIXTAPE not an album. But.. I was talking to a friend, he sha'll remain unnamed, RAPFIEND, and he brought up some really good points.. it led me to this.. 

This mixtape shows talent, has complex lines, and showcases Lu well. But it has no Twilight Zone. There is no Penz and Needlez, Switch, Handcuffs, Lupe the Killa, Mean & Vicious, or Glory. Do you get me?

But I was thinking, well, Lu already has those tracks. And he has the fans who get them. This tape was going to a different audience. The ones who has has to trick into getting educated, who he has to attract with a verse over 'Fireman' or Jay tracks. And then he peppers it with his metaphors and themes. Tricks them into thinking a little harder (..see last verse of National Anthem for more details). but the thing is, he dedicated it to the fans. And I don't think this one was for the current fans... it was to prove a point (mtv hiphop list), create demand (lasers), and attract mixtape-style, punchline fans. Or heavy hiphop fans who haven't given Lu a try yet. But I'm just making my own assumptions here. I don't know what Lu was going for. Maybe noone in particular.. just spitting.

 

So.. I don't know. I'm just wondering what you all think. I guess I'm a little worried about Lasers, it could go two ways. Obviously it will be a full album, but I'm sure it will be different. Respecting Lu's artistic creativity because I loved the Cool and it was really different from F&L. Just hoping it satisfies!

yea i kinda feel you turnt up and say something are the only ones that stood out to me but i do listen to the other songs though....i think this album will be ahead of its time and a lot of people will dislike it because they don't really understand Lu...he is a complex rapper and i think this album will be a reflection of him...the title says it all!!!...

the tape was more of an attention getter for MTV... EOTS did its job... it caught MTV's attention so next year when they pick out the list, they will remember how Lu responded this year..

don't get me wrong...that little bit of material STILL can be placed in the top 5 or 10 tapes to be released this year...his punches were crazy but it just lacked that shit that'll have your brain spinning after listening...i mean...the shit was very good but in all honesty...no replay value and by mediocre...i meant "Lupe mediocre" which means it still pisses and shits on tons of other cats' material

So Ghetto and Popular Demand get spins. @ AWil you sounding mad negative haha..Of course EOTS isn't any Revenge Of The Nerds but I still appreciate the new stuff. It's like a whole new chapter, like The Cool didn't sound anything like F&L, and F&L was a lot different than the bootleg version, his style changes over time you know. There are a couple clever lines in and there and the tape kept me entertained. I just think some people hold like godlike amazing super mc over the top expectations when it comes to Lupe. I say just sit back and enjoy it lol. @ Christian; Expect March+, he isn't going to release Lasers when he's on a mountain in the middle of Africa haha.. @ Rhymestyle; I was thinking the same way..I feel like Lasers is gonna sound pretty commercial (you know more than me) and people are just going to judge it without ever hitting the rewind button. Just look at all the bullshit he got from canceling the mixtape, kids are so eager to hate.. All they need to do is take my advice and just chill a little.

When Lasers drops, first thing people will do is compare it to Food & Liquor or The Cool and as soon as they see it doesn't compare, they will automatically hate it without really even giving it a chance... EOTS didnt sound like his previous tapes because it was done in 1 day as opposed to being done over a span of time.. so of course it wont have crazy concepts like Twilight Zone.. Point is dude took a couple of beats, dropped metaphors, finished the tape... theres no reason in him taking time to do a full mixtape when he has no time... He works hard from doing constant shows, to recording the album, to doing the mountain climb, etc... point is, if he took the time out and kept it as a priority, then we would have gotten songs like like Glory, Mean & Vicious, etc All I will say is, dont assume it will a billion times greater than his first 2 albums, otherwise when you get it and listen to it... and if it ends up not comparing, you will be upset for no reason..

i'm sure the old heads will agree with you...the tape is flat out mediocre...nothing like one would look forward to when it came to a lupe mixtape...and it has no replay value to me... best thing to do is don't anticipate...cuz you may end up holding your expectations too high

the only reason it has good replay value is because its short. National Anthem is still my favourite overall song, but i still enjoy the other stuff.

Say Something, Popular Demand, Thank You, The One, and National Anthem are the only tracks that really display Lupe's true skill. So Ghetto was a blast from the past, "Should be riding on a horse/ Mines is a horse, but mines is the size you can sneak inside a Fort/ You're is a pony that can sleep inside a Porsche" Lupe talking about the trojan horse, *smh* he's a monster. I enjoyed the SNIPPETS, but if he was going to come out with a mixtape, he should have put more effort into it. He made it in one day.

The only track that still gets play from me is Popular Demand and... well, that's pretty much it lol. EOTS is wack. It may be dope to mainstream Only Hip-Hop fans, but it's a mediocre tape regardless. I can't believe he let the So Ghetto beat go to waste too... F***in unacceptable.
